Class A1

Your requirements

  • Start of training Minimum age 15.5 years -> issue of driving licence Minimum age 16 years
     
  • Application driving license
     
  • Safe driver equipment
     
  • Good concentration and coordination, quick perception
     
  • Theoretical training and examination
     
  • Practical training and examination

Your vehicle

Motorbikes with

  • engine capacity of not more than 125 cc and
     
  • engine power not exceeding 11 kW (15 hp) and
     
  • power to weight ratio not exceeding 0.1 kW/kg.
     

As well as three-wheeled motor vehicles up to 15 kW.

Seat height

To ensure safe training, our learner drivers must be able to reach the road with at least both balls of their feet.

A safe stand on the road is not only determined by body size and seat height, but also by seat width, leg length and thigh circumference.

Arrange an individual seat test at the driving school to find your suitable training motorbike.

Training vehicles

For your safety and fun in training, you will ride on current models. Professional maintenance of our vehicles is a matter of course.

Under locations you will find the following training vehicles, which are offered at the respective driving school.

  • Honda CB 125R ABS
     
  • KTM 125 Duke ABS

Minimum requirements for the training vehicle

  • Motor power up to 11 kW
     
  • ratio of power to unladen mass of not more than 0.1 kW/kg
     
  • Maximum speed determined by the design at least 90 km/h
     
  • with combustion engine displacement at least 120 cm3, whereby a shortfall of 5 cm3 is permitted
     
  • with an electric motor, power/empty mass ratio at least 0.08 kW/kg.

Own vehicle

You can also use your own motorcycle/scooter for training. It must meet the minimum requirements and you need a confirmation from your insurance company. This is usually always granted.

Your theory lessons

Required number with prior possession of a driving license class:

  • 6 lessons (at 90 minutes) of basic knowledge
     
  • 4 lessons (at 90 minutes) especially for Class A

 

Note for class A1 with previous class B licence

If you already hold a class B licence and want to obtain class A, we recommend attending our specially designed additional theory for class A (10 × 90 min) – without the basic theory. This is far more relevant for you.

You are of course welcome to attend the basic theory as well if you wish.

 

Required number with no prior possession a drivers license:

  • 12 lessons (at 90 minutes) of basic knowledge
     
  • 4 lessons (at 90 minutes) especially for Class A
Theoretical training

Your driving lesson

Your instructor will accompany you with a radio and your own motorbike.

Depending on your level of training, he will ride in front or behind you.

For efficient training, we recommend at least 2 driving appointments (90 minutes each) per week.

Practical training

Training lesson

  • The first training lessons take place on a practice area. The practice area is located near the driving school.
     
  • During the training lessons, you will practise the basic driving tasks and driving in the city.
     
  • The number of training lessons is not specified in the learner driver training regulations and is therefore carried out individually depending on the learner driver's level of ability.
     
  • The number of training lessons expected in order to pass the exam cannot be precisely predicted at the start of training.
     
  • Without prior knowledge, the average is approx. 11 - 16 driving appointments (90 minutes each). 
     
  • Provided that the tips “Reduce the number of practice drives” under Practical training have been followed.
     
  • However, depending on your level of ability, you may need fewer or more training lessons.

Special lesson

In the special lessons (also known as statutory compulsory lessons) you only train to ride outside the city.

 

Required number:

  • 5 driving lessons (45 minutes each) overland driving
     
  • 4 driving lessons (45 minutes each) motorway driving
     
  • 3 driving lessons (45 minutes each) twilight driving
