What you need to get started

  • Registration driving school and FAHREN LERNEN app
     
  • You need to have sufficient credit in your driving school account. This credit must cover both your already confirmed and newly requested driving lessons.
     
  • When booking through the FAHREN LERNEN app, a flat amount of €200 is reserved per 90-minute lesson — this is because the app doesn't know in advance whether it's a training lesson or a special lesson, or whether the regular or late-hours rate applies.
     
  • 👉 Our tip: Top up your account for several weeks at a time so you can keep your lessons running smoothly — without any interruptions. In your to-dos at the start of your training, we've already given you an estimate of how many lessons you're likely to need.
     
  • To increase your credit balance, transfer an amount of your choice to your driving school. Incoming payments are posted immediately.
     
  • Check your current credit:

  • On request or at the end of your training, any existing credit will of course be transferred back to you immediately.
     
  • The push notification in your FAHREN LERNEN app must be activated under Authorisation. 
     
  • The contents of your app must be updated by pulling the screen down under To-do (pull-to-refresh).
     
  • If you have not yet reached the minimum age for your driving licence, please note when requesting a driving appointment that the practical test may be taken at the earliest 1 month before reaching the minimum age.

Requesting a driving appointment – step by step

  • With your Fahren Lernen app, you can request as many driving lessons per day and per week as you like.
     
  • Depending on how intensively you actually make use of your training, the corresponding surcharge according to your training contract will be charged once at the end of your training.
     
  • Request a driving appointment: App FAHREN LERNEN -> To-Do -> small blue icon in the bottom right corner.
     
  • Select your driving instructor or simulator below.
     
  • The calendar automatically displays the date of the first available driving appointment – earlier dates are not available.
     
  • The calendar displays you the first available time for each day. After that, all other times are displayed in 15-minute intervals. As soon as you click on a time, the calendar automatically jumps to our nearest available start time that best matches your preferred time.
     
  • Select a date and time.
     
  • Select the meeting point.
     
  • Do not click on ‘Add appointment to my calendar’, as your appointment has not yet been confirmed.
     
  • You cannot select whether it should be a practice drive, special drive or test drive when making your enquiry. Your driving instructor will decide what will be driven on your date, depending on your level of training.
     
  • You do not have to request the twilight drives separately. Your driving instructor will plan these with you.
     
  • Driving appointments on our drive easy simulator should take place before driving appointments in real road traffic. Please refer to the ‘Training programme’ drive easy Simulator.
     
  • You can only request driving appointments of 90 minutes each. A driving appointment consists of 2 driving lessons of 45 minutes each.
     
  • Please request at the start of your training the number of driving appointments recommended in your start information in your desired period.
     
  • Ask often your driving instructor whether you need additional appointments or if you can cancel already confirmed ones. Book any additional appointments you need promptly using your FAHREN LERNEN app.
     
  • For efficient training, we recommend at least 2 driving appointments per week.
     
  • You can request appointments up to 2 hours before the start of the driving appointment.
     
  • You can request driving appointments up to 6 months in advance.
     
  • For driving appointments Mon - Fri 4.30 pm to 00.00 am and Sat we charge a surcharge according to the training contract.
     
  • Practical exam take place every Monday between 7.30 am and 4.30 pm. The time is allocated to us at short notice by the TÜV Süd test centre. We may therefore have to postpone or cancel your confirmed driving appointment on this day.

How to know your driving appointment is confirmed

  • Your requested driving appointment is automatically confirmed by your FAHREN LERNEN app if your driving school account has sufficient credit for driving appointments that have already been confirmed and your newly requested driving appointments.
     
  • You will receive a push notification for every confirmed request for a driving appointment.
     
  • Check your confirmed driving appointments in the FAHREN LERNEN app under To-Do → Practice – only the lessons shown there are binding.
     
  • If you add driving appointments to your personal calendar, delete them manually if canceled – the FAHREN LERNEN app doesn’t sync automatically with personal calendars.

Request declined?

  • Your balance must always cover all confirmed and newly requested driving appointments combined — otherwise the app will decline new driving appointment requests.
     
  • If your balance is insufficient for a newly requested driving appointment and that driving appointment is scheduled earlier than already confirmed ones, the app may confirm the new driving appointment — but will automatically cancel one of your later confirmed driving appointment in return. Please therefore check your confirmed driving appointments regularly: "FAHREN LERNEN" app → To-Do → Praxis — only the driving appointments shown there are binding.
     
  • You will receive a push notification for every rejected request for a driving appointment. You must not click on a push notification but drag it from top to bottom. Only then will you receive further information about which appointment has been declined.
     
  • After you have increased your credit and received a payment confirmation by email, please request your travel dates again.
     
  • Check your current credit balance: LEARN TO DRIVE app -> More -> Finances
     
  • In rare cases, your requested appointment will be declined because the vehicle is already booked for this appointment. In this case, ask for an alternative date or time.

How to cancel an driving appointment on time

  • You can only cancel a driving appointment up to 48 hours in advance in your FAHREN LERNEN app.
     
  • If you do not cancel a confirmed driving appointment in time, this driving appointment will be booked as a missed lesson in accordance with the training contract.
     
  • A driving appointment cannot be cancelled by email, WhatsApp, text message or telephone.
     
  • A medical certificate (sick note) does not release you from the obligation to pay for the driving appointment that was not cancelled on time.
     
  • Only your driving instructor can judge your level of performance. Ask him whether you should request further driving appointments or cancel driving appointments that have already been confirmed.
