Booking & cancelling driving appointments – here's how

🚦 Before you can book

App FAHREN LERNEN activated by your driving school
Push notifications in your FAHREN LERNEN app must be enabled under "Permissions".
The app content must be refreshed by pulling down the screen on the "To-do" page (pull-to-refresh).

💰 Credit – the essentials about money

You need sufficient credit in your driving school account. This must cover both already confirmed and newly requested driving appointments.
When booking via the FAHREN LERNEN app, €200 is reserved per driving appointment (90 minutes) as a flat rate. This is because the app doesn't yet know in advance whether it will be a standard or special drive, or whether the standard or late-hours rate applies. The actual price of a completed driving appointment can be found on your performance overview – you can request this from us by email at any time.
👉Tip: Top up your credit so that you can request all recommended driving appointments right from the start and complete at least 1–2 appointments per week regularly without interruption. This way you'll progress faster and will generally need fewer driving lessons overall. An initial estimate of how many driving appointments you are likely to need can be found in your to-dos at the beginning of your training.

If you wish, or at the end of your training, any remaining credit will of course be refunded to you immediately.

📅 Good to know about booking

You can only request driving appointments of 90 minutes each. One driving appointment consists of 2 driving lessons of 45 minutes each.
Via your FAHREN LERNEN app you can request as many driving appointments per day and week as you like. Advance booking lead times are approximately 1 to 8 weeks depending on the season. Current availability can be found under Practical Training.
Driving appointments can be requested up to 6 months in advance and up to 2 hours before the start time.
When making a request, you cannot choose whether it will be a standard, special, or test drive. Your instructor decides what will be covered in your driving appointment based on your current training progress.
You don't need to request twilight drives separately – your instructor will arrange these with you.
👉 Tip:Talk to your driving instructor early and regularly — only he can tell you whether you need to book additional driving appointments to be ready for your test, or whether you can cancel lessons you've already booked.

⚠️ Other important things to know

For driving appointments Monday–Friday from 16:30 to 00:00 and on Saturdays, a surcharge applies as per your training contract (late-hours rate).
Depending on how intensively you actually use your training, the applicable surcharge per your training contract will be charged once at the end of your training.
Driving lessons on our drive easy simulator should take place before driving lessons in real road traffic. Please refer to the "drive easy Simulator Training Guide" for details.
Practical examinations take place on Mondays between 07:30 and 16:30. The exact time is assigned to us at short notice by TÜV Süd. It may therefore be necessary for us to reschedule or cancel your confirmed driving appointment on that day.
If you have not yet reached the minimum age for your licence, please keep in mind when requesting driving appointments that the practical examination may only be taken at the earliest 1 month before reaching the minimum age.

Request a driving appointment: App FAHREN LERNEN -> To-Do -> small blue icon in the bottom right corner.
Select your driving instructor or simulator below.
The calendar automatically displays the date of the first available driving appointment – earlier dates are not available.

👉 Tip: Check the app regularly – other learners cancel their driving appointments from time to time, and you can grab those slots at short notice.
The calendar displays you the first available time for each day. After that, all other times are displayed in 15-minute intervals. As soon as you click on a time, the calendar automatically jumps to our nearest available start time that best matches your preferred time.
Select a date and time.
Select the meeting point.
Do not click on ‘Add appointment to my calendar’, as your appointment has not yet been confirmed.

Your requested driving appointment is automatically confirmed by your FAHREN LERNEN app if your driving school account has sufficient credit for driving appointments that have already been confirmed and your newly requested driving appointments.
You will receive a push notification for every confirmed request for a driving appointment.
Check your confirmed driving appointments in the FAHREN LERNEN app under To-Do → Practice – only the lessons shown there are binding.
If you add driving appointments to your personal calendar, delete them manually if canceled – the FAHREN LERNEN app doesn’t sync automatically with personal calendars.

Your balance must always cover all confirmed and newly requested driving appointments combined — otherwise the app will decline new driving appointment requests.
If your balance is insufficient for a newly requested driving appointment and that driving appointment is scheduled earlier than already confirmed ones, the app may confirm the new driving appointment — but will automatically cancel one of your later confirmed driving appointment in return. Please therefore check your confirmed driving appointments regularly: "FAHREN LERNEN" app → To-Do → Praxis — only the driving appointments shown there are binding.
You will receive a push notification for every rejected request for a driving appointment. You must not click on a push notification but drag it from top to bottom. Only then will you receive further information about which appointment has been declined.
After you have increased your credit and received a payment confirmation by email, please request your travel dates again.

In rare cases, your requested appointment will be declined because the vehicle is already booked for this appointment. In this case, ask for an alternative date or time.

Driving appointments can only be cancelled up to 48 hours in advance via the FAHREN LERNEN app.
Cancellations by email, WhatsApp, SMS, or phone are not accepted.
If you do not cancel a confirmed driving appointment in time, it will be charged as a missed lesson in accordance with your training contract.
A medical certificate does not exempt you from the obligation to pay for driving appointments that were not cancelled in time.
