Class B with key number 78
- We recommend class B with key number 78 (B78)
- Practical training very fast, easy and cheap
- With class B78 you are allowed to drive cars only with automatic transmission and electric cars
- Start of training minimum age 17.5 years
- Start of training minimum age 16.5 years with accompanied driving at 17 (BF17)
- Driving lessons on a car with automatic transmission
- Practical examination on a car with automatic transmission
- Driving at home and abroad possible
- Option for later classes BE, C, D only with automatic transmission
Class B with key number 197
- If you would like to have the option of driving cars with a manual gearbox, you must take the class B with key number 197 (B197).
- Practical training longer and more expensive than for category B78
- With category B197, you can drive cars with manual or automatic transmissions and electric cars
- Start of training minimum age 17.5 years
- Start of training minimum age 16.5 years with accompanied driving at 17 (BF17)
- Driving lessons on a car with automatic transmission
- In addition 5 driving appointments of 90 minutes each on a car with a manual gearbox to gain driving competence for manual transmissions
- 1 test drive of 15 minutes each on a car with manual transmission to determine driving competence for manual transmissions
- Practical examination on a car with automatic transmission
- Driving at home and abroad possible
- Option for later classes BE, C, D only with automatic transmission
Class B
- We only recommend class B if you want to do class BE afterwards AND your towing vehicle will be a manual car.
- Practical training is significantly longer, more demanding and more expensive than for class B78 or B197
- With class B, you can drive cars with manual or automatic transmission and electric cars
- Minimum age of 17.5 years at the start of training
- Start of training minimum age 16.5 years with accompanied driving at 17 (BF17)

Class A
- Start of training minimum age 23.5 years without prior possession of another motorbike class
- Start of training minimum age 19.5 years with previous possession of class A2 for at least 2 years

- Motorbikes without engine capacity or performance restrictions
Class A with code number 80
- Start of training minimum age 20.5 years
- Driving in Germany and abroad possible
- Up to 24 years of age Motorcycles with power restriction to max. 35 kW (48 hp) and power to weight ratio max. 0.2 kW/kg, which are not derived from a motorbike with an engine power of more than 70 kW
- From 24 years of age Motorcycles without engine capacity or power restrictions and without another exam
Class A2
- Start of training minimum age 17.5 years
- Domestic and international driving possible
- Motorbikes with power limitation to max. 35 kW (48 hp) and power to weight ratio max. 0.2 kW/kg, which are not derived from a motorbike with an engine power of more than 70 kW
Class A1
- Start of training minimum age 15.5 years
- Domestic and international driving possible
- Motorbikes with engine capacity limited to max. 125 cc and power limitation to 11 kW (15 hp) and ratio of power to weight max. 0.1 kW/kg
Class B with key number 196
- Minimum age of 25 with previous possession of class B for at least 5 years
- Driving only possible in Germany
- Motorcycles with engine size limited to max. 125 cc, power limitation to 11 kW (15 hp) and power to weight ratio max. 0.1 kW/kg
- No examinations necessary
Class AM
- Start of training minimum age 14.5 years
- Domestic and international driving possible
- Light two-wheeled motor vehicles with a maximum speed determined by the type of construction of no more than 45 km/h, a rated continuous output/utilised power of no more than 4 kW and an internal combustion engine with a cylinder capacity of no more than 50 cm³ or another form of propulsion

Towing trailers with class B197, class B78, class B
- Start of training Minimum age 17.5 years
- Start of training Minimum age 16.5 years (with BF17 accompanied driving at 16,5)
- Combinations of a class B towing vehicle (motor vehicle max. 3,500 kg permissible total mass) and a trailer with a permissible total mass of no more than 750 kg or a heavy trailer, provided the permissible total mass of the combination does not exceed 3,500 kg.
- Driving is possible at home and abroad
Class BE
- Start of training Minimum age 16.5 years (with BF17 accompanied driving at 16,5)
- Combinations of a Class B towing vehicle (motor vehicle max. 3,500 kg permissible total mass) and a trailer, provided the permissible total mass of the trailer does not exceed 3,500 kg.
- Driving possible at home and abroad
Class B with key number 96
- Start of training Minimum age 16.5 years (with BF17 accompanied driving at 16,5)
- Combinations of a class B towing vehicle and a trailer with a permissible total mass of more than 750 kg, provided the permissible total mass of the vehicle combination does not exceed 4,250 kg.
