Apply for a driving license

In order to receive your examination order (examination permit), you must submit an application for your driving licence to your driving licence authority after registering at the driving school.

You should do this as soon as possible after registering at your driving school.

• You have registered a residence in Germany.

Residence in Munich

• If you have your main place of residence in Munich, you must apply for your driving licence at the Munich District Administration Office (KVR) Driving Licence Department.

Residence outside Munich

• If you do not have your main place of residence in Munich, you must apply for your driving licence at the driving licence authority (district administration department, district administration office, town hall) at your main place of residence.

• You must also provide a reason (e.g. place of work in Munich or secondary residence in Munich) and suitable evidence as to why you would like to complete your driving licence training in Munich.

• Enter your e-mail address. This is the only way you will receive your invitation link to the important Drivers Club | TÜV SÜD and be informed when you will receive your test authorisation.

Driving licence application

• Specify the driving licence category for which you want to take the test.

Examination

• Class A1, A2, A, B (not B197 or B78):  "Manual transmission", as you will be driving your training and exam on a vehicle with a manual transmission.
• Class B78: "Automatic transmission", as you will be driving your full training and test on a vehicle with automatic transmission.
• Class B197: "I would like to take the driving test on a vehicle with automatic transmission and am completing practical training for driving vehicles with manual transmission in category B in accordance with Annex 7 of the learner driver training regulations (key number 197)", as you will be driving your training on a vehicle with automatic transmission and manual transmission.
• The examination venue is Munich

• The training contract of Fahrschule Rausch is the confirmation of the driving school for the driving licence authority.

• The regular processing time for the driving licence application at Kreisverwaltungsreferat Munich is approx. 8 weeks.
• During the processing time, you can already start your training at the driving school.
• As soon as your driving licence application has been approved, you will receive your examination authorisation.
• You can obtain information on your processing status from the Fahrerlaubnisbehörde München.
• In your app FAHREN LERNEN you can check the receipt and validity of your examination authorisation.

• You can only see whether and for which class your examination authorisation (examination order) has been issued in the Drivers Club | TÜV SÜD
• You must check the data for your examination authorisation (examination order) in the Drivers Club yourself.

• Your examination order (examination authorisation) is valid for one year.
• If your examination order (examination permit) expires after one year, you must apply for a new driving licence.
• If you pass the theory examination, your examination order (examination authorisation) is automatically extended by a further year.
