Your vehicle

After successfully passing the exam, you will be allowed to drive cars with automatic and manual transmissions.

The majority of your training and exam will take place in a car with automatic transmission.

The short driver training course takes place in a car with a manual gearbox.

You can find the training vehicles that are offered for training under Locations.

For your safety and fun during your training, you will be driving the latest models of top-equipped vehicles.

Professional maintenance and cleanliness of our vehicles is a matter of course.

Motor vehicles:

  • up to 3500 kg maximum authorised mass

  • also with trailer up to max. 750 kg maximum authorised mass or

  • with trailers over 750 kg maximum authorised mass, provided the maximum authorised mass of the towing vehicle and trailer is max. 3500 kg

For larger trailers, we also recommend the Class B driver training course with key number 96 without a exam or Class BE.

Training procedure

  • Most of your driving training and your exam will take place in a car with automatic transmission. This makes your exam easier and reduces the number of driving lessons.

  • Driver training on a car with a manual gearbox is integrated into your B197 driver training. This driver training consists of 5 driving appointments of 90 minutes each. This gives you the licence to drive cars with manual gearboxes.

  • After the driver training, you will take a test drive (30 minutes) with your driving instructor.

  • The training for class B197 does not take longer than for category B, as you generally need fewer driving lessons due to the training on a car with automatic transmission. You can also drive some special lessons as part of your driver training.
