2. Plan the timeframe until obtaining the driver’s license
Driving school training duration: regular or intensive
Without prior possession of another class the minimum duration with intensive participation is 5 weeks for theoretical instruction and 2 weeks for practical training (with average driving lesson requirements). A longer, regular timeframe is possible at any time.
With prior possession of another class the minimum duration with intensive participation is 3 weeks for theoretical instruction and 1 week for practical training (with average driving lesson requirements). A longer, regular timeframe is possible at any time.
You may also take driving lessons before attending the theoretical training.

Processing time for the exam authorization from the driver licensing authority / Availability of exams at TÜV Süd exam centers
While your exam authorization is being processed by the driver licensing authority, you are already allowed to start the theoretical lessons and your driving appointments (driving lessons).
From the time you apply for your exam authorization (driving licence application) with the driving licence authority until your practical exam, it can take up to 22 weeks:
- up to 10 weeks processing time by the driving licence authority to issue your exam authorization, if you submit the driving licence application online
- up to 2 weeks lead time (depending on the season) to book your theory exam with the TÜV Süd examination office
- up to 10 weeks lead time (depending on the season) to book your practical exam with the TÜV Süd examination office. You may take the practical exam at the earliest 2 weeks after the theory exam.
5. Apply for a driving license (exam authorization)
Apply for your driving license (exam authorization) at the Munich District Administration Office or District Office. We will help you.
The processing time takes up to 10 weeks if you submit the driving licence application online. Only after that will you receive the exam authorization for your theoretical and practical exam.
During the processing period, you can already start your theory lessons and driving lessons.
Theoretical lessons are available immediately, 3 times a week in the evenings.
You decide for yourself whether and how often per week, as well as at which of our locations, you would like to take part in the theoretical lessons. Our flexible theory system helps you to do this. This way, you can shape the duration of your training entirely at your own pace.
Not necessary for class BE, upgrading to class A2 / A or converting a foreign driving licence.
